Welcome Home Baby is a home visiting program for first time parents with newborn babies who live in Contra Costa County.

Parents may sign up for the program after delivering their baby at the following hospitals: Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, John Muir Medical Center, Sutter Delta Medical Center, Doctor's Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek.

A Family Support Specialist (FSS)calls within the first week to set up an appointment to visit the family in their home. The FSS brings gifts of non-promotional baby supplies provided by the Assistance League of Diablo Valley. The FSS can provide infant development tips, breast/bottle feeding help, ways to play with the baby, how to deal with baby’s crying, safety and nutrition. Additionally, the FSS can provide resources which the family might request. The family may end the visits at anytime, although, depending on the needs of the family, services can be porvided for up to three years.

This program will expand to more hospitals as funding becomes available in the future.
