The Family and Childrens Services Advisory Committee (FACSAC), was
established in 1972 by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors to
advise the principle policy-setting and administrative officials in the
county and participate in the development and assessment of policies,
programs and activities that benefit residents of our county, particularly
those in need of supportive social services.
Specifically, members of the FACSAC Committee
are engaged in:
 |
Advising the Board of Supervisors,
the County Administrator, and the Director of Employment & Human
Services Department on the effectiveness of current and proposed social
programs |
 |
Reviewing and reporting on recent
and pending legislation related to social services |
 |
Identifying problems in the community
that affect low income and high risk families, such as housing, transportation,
education, and employment opportunities |
 |
Soliciting broad-based participation
of county residents from all segments of the population to ensure
that policies and programs are relevant and culturally/ethnically
appropriate |
 |
Participating with other committees
and citizen groups interested in social services to improve the overall
service delivery system |
The Committee has up to fifteen members, three
from each of the Supervisorial Districts. Meetings are held on the third
Tuesday of the month in Martinez. If you have any questions about this
Committee, please contact the FACSAC staff at (925) 313-1614.
