The positive impact a stimulating, engaged and caring preschool teacher can make on a child's life is enormous.

Do you see yourself nurturing young minds and hearts? Our Head Start Teachers are valued, respected members of our community. If you're ready to roll up your sleeves and dedicate your working hours to society's future, keep reading!

The Community Services Bureau is the largest provider of Early Care and Child Education in Contra Costa County. Annually, we serve over 3,000 children and their families in Head Start, Early Head Start, and Child Development programs. To keep the teacher to child ratio low, we employ over 300 teaching staff in 18 child care centers countywide. Childcare is one of the fastest growing career opportunities nationwide and our need for teachers is increasing rapidly. As an employee of Contra Costa County Community Services, you are offered:

The highest preschool teacher salaries in the county.
Outstanding health, dental and retirement benefits for you and your family.
Excellent vacation, sick pay, personal days and holiday time off programs.
Continued education, professional growth and mentoring.

Our largest curriculum is our Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Head Start is a comprehensive program designed to promote the healthy development of young children from low income families. Head Start provides children with daily nutritious meals and many opportunities for social, intellectual, and emotional growth, preparing them for success in school and life.

Early Head Start provides child development services for infants, toddlers and pregnant women. Its principles are based on research proving the importance of the period from birth to age three in a child's healthy growth and development. Contra Costa County Community Services also provides State Preschool and General Child Care programs funded by the California Department of Education. These necessary programs provide child care support to income eligible parents who are working, in job training or seeking employment.
